If on old pasture and you do not need to worry about clover use Hi-Load Micram not sure if you can get it cheaper than here but it is sprayed at 1.25L/HA (half litre/acre) costing about 11.5/acre. Any time from now on that growth has got going.

Eagle not worth a shire tbh.
Used it here numerous times and it only knocks the docks.

Would have to agree with greengrass on eagle unfortunately... Sprayed 2 feilds with doxstar and one with eagle all on the same day last year, there's a small few docs were the doxstar was used(to be expected as there was a lot of em) but the feild that was done with eagle is near worse than last year :(:(

Although I've been told if you mix it with spray for undersown crops its much better and still clover safe... Dont know on that 1 tho.....

You can also add a sticker/activator to the spray this dissolves the wax on the leaves of the weeds and makes the spray more effective.

Followed puds advice and tried mircam last year. Very happy with it! Cleaned swarth up no end.

I will be using it again and bought a few drums when getting fertiliser. Got it for €80, cheaper than last year. I got a few less bags of manure to fund them as l would consider it better value. I have my own sprayer and spray works out at €10/acre or half bag of replenish.

The thing about old pasture is that the roots of weeds can be very strong especially docks so it may take 2-3 sprays to effectively bring dock under complete control. My own opinion is that if reseeding you should spray old paddocks at least once the year before for docks so that roundup will effectively kill them 1-2 years later. Hi-load micram is very cost effective.

It has been shown that docks and other weeds can reduce pasture o/p of grass by 30%. If you consider that bale silage costs 20+euro/bale that while spraying ,may reduce o/p it will reduce cost of baling rubbish as well.

Ground we have taken has turned into a little jem of a place. Didn't think much of it tbh when I first saw it but its bursting grass where irmt was grazed and got manure.
Only problem is its full of nettled and thistles. Very few docks in it surprisingly.
Have two cans of grazon here so will use that this week.
Lot of oul briars and dirt in the ditches from being neglected for the last 10 yrs.
    Had sheep on it

Nettles and thistles are easily killed by MCPA so no point in wasting Grazon 90 out in the field on them.

Have it so may as well use it. Can't bring it back cause I bought it last year

To kill strong briars, you may need to spray twice, I would not worry about leaving a can of grazon aside in a store for a few years with the price of it. It goes nowhere as a land spray.

I have brush wood as well I think.
Most nettles are in bunches in the field and coming out from ditches so I'll just use the lance. Will make it go further

if you are going after docks than dockstar is yer only man.

MCPA for general weed control would be my wepon of choice or a mix of MCPA and D-50

Doxstar probably, or starane was one i hadn't heard of until the other day but supposedly does more or less the same job, might not do quite as much on some weeds i think

go for a mix of either D-50 and MCPA (cheeper option) or dockstar and D-50

the cheeper mix will do a good job on thistles (bit early to spray them yet) and the D-50 will kill the ragwort but will only kill the top growth with the docks but not the roots

Would you use MCPA on silage ground - light coat of grass at the moment but thistles are beginning to make an appearance......

That's exactly what I put in my 200l hardi. Drive along at ~5miles/ hr. It gives a good kill to buttercups etc. Docks will need to be done a second year.

I often go with doxstar in a handheld sprayer (lidl job) it does a brilliant job, you will see them curled nexd day so any missed ones can be got, it amazing how many you will get with a few runs

Does it kill the young docks too? Have to agree on the handheld, be supprised what can be done in an hour.

Ya great for young docks I did a reseed and kept after them when at 3 to 4 leaf stage and fully cleaned 3 acres in a few runs in the autumn

I cleared 30 acres from thistles last year with Thistlex - a budget each time after grazing. It also seemed to kill docks. And not grass.
