Bookmakers different odds?

    I've noticed that the various bookmakers will have slightly different odds on a horse race until about 10 mins before the off and they all have the exact same odds and they change at the exact same time? Are they all linked to the one system just before the off?

    Yes, the betting ring at the course becomes the market. The price it goes off at becomes the official "SP" (Starting Price)
