So im sure this has been asked here a million times, but new gear comes out all the time and i was looking for some advice

im gonna hopefully save some money (prob not enough alot) for some new equipment to bring me into next winter
i realise everything with quality is damn expensive
but even if i had some ok midi decks or something
anyways, im just looking for people to throw ideas at me

i guess my budget would be anywhere between 500-1000 (depending on how my summer goes)

i have a laptop, cracked version of good old virtual dj...ill be getting a new decent asio as i do producing anyways......might get a legit copy of sarato, we'll see.....

so what decks would complement this rig out?

i have experience using the numark mixtrack pro...good as a toy to practice on but nowhere near good as the cdj-900's which i get to use from time to time at college as part of the dj soc there......

so something in between these 2????

    thanks

have a newborn baby that my money is tied up in :P

nah, want to buy a motorbike for summer so its helping towards that. its not that much money so i dont mind if they dont sell, i can scrape the money from somewhere i reckon.

900s have more features obviously, better jogwheel (more like the 1000s)

but the 400s are very capable little bugegrs, work great with traktor and vdj.

    At OP

Where is your music? CDs? Laptop? USB drive? Vinyl? Cloud?

Are you planning to take your set up to events?

if space isn't an issue look around the adverts boards you should be able to score 2 Turntables (Technics/Stantons), a 2 decent 2 channel mixer (rane/pioneer/denon/vestax) and a Serato SL (2/3) Box or Traktor Audio card with your 1000 budget.

*Serato Software (Scratch Live and Serato DJ) is free if you buy the appropriate gear
**DJtech makes a 2 channel scratch mixer to DIF-1S (Think its 200/250 to buy brand new)

If you want to go the Controller route
Then check for Pioneer DDJ SX or the SR (Both well below 800 euros brand new). Advantage of the Pio brand is that you have almost the same layout as the CDJ decks which you are used to.
