Sorry if this is a stupid question, but if I buy a phone from Amazon that is "UK, sim free", can I use that here in Ireland on any network?

yeah, if its sim free it will take any sim card. and uk probably means that the updates and accessories are uk based * uk plug and in english

Great thanks. When you say updates, is that software updates? And would I have any problems with that if it's from the UK?

no problems at all. as i said its mainly the english language updates or updates for the uk and irish markets. wont be a problem provided its not a chinese clone coming from uk

Great thanks for your help. Atm I'm looking at the Galaxy S3 and S4 mini, so I hope there's no clones involved!!

depends on the seller, have you checked hotukdeals.com?
carphone warehouse is hard to order here from there though.
why not the moto g? * i had one and its a great piece of kit, plus you dont have samsung taking most of the memory

Go for s3 then so, s4 is a budget phone with no parts in common with s4, just a marketing gimmick using it's name

Thanks, I haven't actually looked at the moto, might do that now. The S3/4 look ok on Amazon, nothing dodgy in the reviews. Is there a way to tell if a phone is a clone?

Agree with above, the Moto G is the best value for money budget phone on the market, be madness to go with Samsung, it's miles better.

Thanks, I cant put up links, I don't think I have enough posts?

Just looked at the Moto G, looks really great. Only issue I see with it (for me) is the lack of expandable memory, but I might give it some more thought. Thanks.

links worked fine. wont get a chance to check the seller till later though, maybe someone else can
xpendable memory is not really needed if you cant stream and with cloud cube- dropbox - copy, google drive you should be ok.
if the worst comes to the worst you can always buy one of the sd card adaptors for moto g
    http://www.meenova.com/

afaik amazon have one as well

couldnt find one except for this monstrosity

    Hi,

Yes it will work no problem. I've just recently bought a Sony Xperia z1 compact sim free from amazon.

I was a bit weary as it was my first time buying a phone from the UK online.

I ordered it on Tuesday evening and received it Friday morning from An Póst. Everything was perfect with it.

I just had to get a new micro sim card for it from three and I was sorted.
