Thanks for this, can anyone take a stab into how many people might be going for these 5 positions? Does anyone know how many went for last years? I don't even know why I want to know this because i know the answer will sting.

Has anyone done the online assessments for this programme? Any tips? Thanks.

In relation to tips, there's not much you can do to prepare yourself. They give you 12 mins to answer between 35-50 Qs which is not enough. I only got through half of them. There are teo sections: one is numerical reasoning and the other is verbal reasoning.

Yeah, it was OK, don't think I passed. The verbal reasoning one was grand, the numerical one not so much.

I applied to it about 5 minutes after the deadline but was fortunate enough to still get it processed. Just got the email a few hours ago to do the test and confidently sat down with a cuppa tae in the hand to give it a lash. Needless to say the confidence was short lived. I got through the examples easily enough but the actual test itself was quite hard.

I just about managed to get over half of them done in the verbal reasoning test and probably about 70% finished in the numerical reasoning. If it weren't for such a short time allowance it probably wouldn't have been too difficult. I was very conscious of the time which only made me panic more and meant I couldn't think as coherently, which made me more conscious of time ad infinitum. How did everyone else do? Seems like it'd be a great graduate programme to be involved in if you were lucky enough to get it.

No, didn't hear a bit peep unfortunately. Think I can rule myself out. :(

How soon after the assessment did you hear? How did you feel the online test went? Did you get many of the questions answered? I did mine on wednesday but haven't heard anything back yet other than a confirmation that I'd finished the assessment (not that expected to hear anything back this soon after the aassessment).

I heard back two days after, got it all done. But this is my second time attempting it. No luck last time.

anyone any tips for the interview? they said it was competency based!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 358 ✭✭AtticusFinch86

You'll find a bucketload of info about competency based interviews online. They're very common types of interview. The interviewer(s) basically ask you to describe a situation in which you displayed a certain characteristic (e.g. leadership) or worked under certain conditions (e.g. time pressure). The best approach to use when answering these questions is probably the STAR technique. It makes it a little easier to keep the answer on track and avoid waffling too much.

If I were you I would figure out what they valued in their employees/graduates in terms of personality traits and characteristics (that info should be available on the job description or on the website or both) and use those as a basis to mentally prepare yourself for the questions. For example if the website/job description suggests they value strong team players then you might try and think of some situations where you displayed that attribute.

So I'm guessing if we haven't heard back yet since the tests we're out?

    Disappointed!

Dint be too hard on yourself!! 1400 people applied and they took the top 100 from the test to the first interview and only 30 to the last round! And only 5 jobs available!!

How did you get on? Crazy amount of applications, well done for making it to the top 100, or maybe farther!

I was told the same in my interview goes to show the competition for jobs! I wonder was there many overseas applicants. Have you been invited to the second round? I haven't. My degree has nothing to do with banking or finance anyway.

    Hi all

Sorry just coming into this late, but by chance can anyone give any tips with regards a funds reviewer role at the central bank?

    Many thanks 😊

Did anyone apply for the grad programme 2015?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 351 ✭✭Slippers

Applied on the 10th of May.
Was sent a link to the tests on the 11th.
Did the tests on the 13th.
Got a call on, I think, the 15th about a 1st round interview on Monday the 18th. I had exams all that week so they helpfully rescheduled for Monday the 25th.
Had the interview on the 25th, waiting to hear how I did.

I had my interview the 25th too. It was super short though like max twenty minutes so I don't think that's a great sign.

At least we have a better chance this year because of the extra entry-level jobs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21 cfs2012

True! Would hate to be the interviewers interviewing 100 people :P

What kind of questions were asked in the interview? Have my first round one this week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7 jamiegaynor

Got told yesterday in my interview they are interviewing 200 people for 30 places in the second round

That's odd. I know someone who has already been invited to the next round. I was posting cause I hadn't heard anything back myself yet and was wondering if anyone other than my friend had.

They told me at the end of mine last week that everyone will be let know by the end of the month

Thanks, I'll breathe easy for another while so! Since they've started handing out places in the next round already there must've only been a small number of interviews left or something.

Tough competition though going by your numbers! Anyone know how many places are actually on the programme? I didn't think to ask myself :/

Yeah I was left a little deflated when she told me the amount of people they were interviewing!

I think it's 5 for the grad program and then they have entry level jobs too but I don't know how many of them there are at all.

I didn't get past the interview. Ah well. Best of luck to anyone who did!

Didn't get through either, knew as soon as I seen I had an email and not a missed call on my phone.

Yea, same. Hard luck anyway. If it's any consolation, my friend said the next round was really, really tough. Had to do a presentation and a further interview - got quite the grilling!
