Hygienist or Periodontal Hygienist??

Hi all just wondering if anyone knows if there is a difference between a hygienist and periodontal hygienist?

I have recently changed jobs and commute daily during week so can't make any app with the practice I normally attend. There is a hygienist that operates in the evening at my regular dentist surgery. Would regular sessions with this hygienist be ok or does the perio hygienist have special tools/do something different?

Likely no difference. Like calling someone a tooth dentist.....
