nct this morning light for reg plate broken

    As above the light on one side of the rear registration plate is not working. This has caused a light to come on in the dash board. someone was meant to call fix it last night but didn't show. Will this cause a fail for nct and will there be a cost to re test. Thanks in advance

    It will fail but it's a visual so there's no charge for a retest.
    Give it a smack with your hand. You'd be surprised how many times that works. Failing that, head to a motor factors. The bulb will be cheap and usually if you ask nicely, whoever is behind the counter will fit it too, if they're not too busy.

    Thanks a mil. Will try the smack. Unfortunately its on at 9.20 so I won't make it to a motor factors in time. At least I won't have to pay for retest.

    Don't know where your nct is but Brennan's motor factors facing Star Bingo across from Crumlin children's hospital opens around 7.30 or so. Very friendly in there and helpful.

    its only an advisory and will not cause you to fail, had it on the wifes car 2 weeks ago and it passed.
