    Thats out of your league!

Im considering it, for a number of reasons, the interview experience, the extreme challenge if they actually gave me a chance etc.

I would have no problem at the operations end of the job, the financial end would be a worry tho!

Do companies nowadays take a risk like that? Would they provide support systems?

Should I stick to what im doing or take a jump and risk getting fired in a month if I somehow actually landed it???

Might just do it for the craic? Anyone done the same thing and succeeded, or completely messed it up?

I'd like to be President, possibly Taoiseach. Anyone know when the interviews are?

Having a qualification related to the job you're applying for is always a positive. That said, many people have found themselves in careers that they didn't study in college. Having a demonstrable passion and innate skill for a job can often be picked up by a perspective employer.
If it's a job where you can demonstrate competency, then be sure to make it known. For journalism, a body of written pieces; for software development, a sample of the code you have contributed to open source projects; for engineering, output from a software package showing core competencies in design, methodology and process.

Considering the calibre of many of the graduates coming out of colleges these days, a show of initiative, keenness and enthusiasm is a great start. It might not get you the job, but you won't be sitting on your hole with an expectation that a job is owed to you.
