    Yep, that'll get you beer. There are other things that you may want to upgrade with, but pretty much everything there is something you'll still use however complex your personal brewing system gets.

    Two pieces of advice if you're ordering this: throw in a kilo of spraymalt (light or extra-light) to use on the kit instead of the kilo of brewing sugar. You'll get better beer that way. You can use the brewing sugar for priming. And start collecting empty beer bottles now, if you haven't already.

    thank you! i'm looking at the spraymalts now. would light/extra light be ok for all types? not 100% what the recipient would want to brew but they mostly like to drink ales

    Yes, that's the most flexible option. Works fine for dark beers too.
