Also is the car allowed to be driven in that 30 days Aslong as I've insured it?

Yes but your insurance company will only issue you with a temporary policy while it's on uk/ni plates and they will inform revenue after 30 days if you haven't changed it to irish plates

You have to book an appointment for VRT appraisal with the NCTS centre within 7 days of bringing the car into the country. You need to have the VRT paid and car on Irish days within 30 days of bringing it in.

Once you have the booking receipt you should be fine with driving it as unless it is something rare or odd the NCTS have it on their database and will tell you the VRT amount there and then. If they don't have the car on their database then they will lodge a query with Revenue which can take a few weeks sometimes.

I am considering buying a car up North but as it's a luxury car I want to register it with a D reg. I'm not living in Dublin, but I've been told by dealers that it will be easier to sell later with a D reg, does anyone know how to do that? I hear its possible........?
