    Hi There

I am starting a new job soon and will be cycling from Firhouse to Lepardstown. I did a test run and followed the cycle path via scholarstown road up past three rock and down to the dundrum exit on the m50. I went straight up there and then the track ends and your on the main road which goes down to the left in to sandyford.

Does anyone else doe this route? If so is this route OK or is there a better one? What route do you take back towards firhouse?

Not sure if this is the route you took but, if you follow Taylors Lane up past Marlay Park and Lidl, stay on the cycle track, continue straight on and you will get to essentially the Dundrum M50 exit, continue across that roundabout (the cycle track crosses the road about 75m down left from the roundabout, the cycle track continues on and eventually turns into Moreen Estate and takes you out at the big junction at the Beacon Hotel, from there I think there's also an on-road track down into the industrial estate.

If I recall correctly it is what Russman said above. One you go straight through the Dundrum/M50 roundabout, that cycle lane doesn't end, it goes through a housing estate which then takes you to a main Junction at the Beacon Hotel.

In the link below. The traffic coming down is on the road you think you will have to use? If you went off the cycle lane, continued up road from the Dundrum/M50 and took a left?

You can see in the link where the lane exits. Out of shot to the very left is the Beacon Hotel. I've done the route a few times when I was attempting to get to Dun laoghaire, a few months ago.

Suffice is to say I was doing it wrong :)

As for going back to Firhouse? I'd take the same route back to the Dundrum/M50 roundabout and use the cycle lanes on the Dundrum side to get back on the Grange/Marley Park road.

I took a similar route before, I only found out about the moreen route using google maps selecting bicycle. I mentioned it to about 6-7 people and only one guy who cycles a lot and drives a lot was aware of it.

Another tip is to use the walking search too, as it can show shorter routes where you just might have to hop off the bike for a minute. e.g. I did it and it showed a route going through a shopping centre.
