Nice one, I remember he had a weekend show for a while on Virgin 1215 when it launched. Another time he was interviewed by John Peel on BBC Radio 1, and it was billed as 'the John Peel of Ireland talks to the Dave Fanning of England', which was nice.

6Music is a brilliant station, miles ahead of anything else in these islands.

I listened to that on Sunday, haven't heard Dave Fanning on the radio for years so it was great to hear him on the BBC.

There will lots of shows on 6 Music celebrating Irish music over the next couple of weeks. Cerys Mathews is broadcasting her brilliant show live from Dublin on Sunday and will be playing Irish and Irish influenced music on it. There has also been a few Irish themed shows on the station recently, such as The Rory Gallagher Story. I love 6 Music, but I'm loving it so much more with the Irish themed shows.
