Up to now I've never had a check-in bag when travelling through T2 but will be dropping off a bag there in a few days for an Aer Lingus flight early the following morning to Italy.

Is there a specific desk for this purpose or can I go to any Aer Lingus check-in desk?

    Hi Coylemj,

The night before check in is a great service from EI, I have used it a few months ago. You can use any of the check in desks for your bags. Enjoy your flight.

I used it once before and honestly, never again. There were two of us, the other person had made the booking for both of us and at a later date added and paid for a check-in bag. So we got an email inviting us to do check in and bag drop the previous evening. I dropped my friend at airport and drove off down to nearby petrol station to linger and avoid parking charges. My husband had to join a single packed queue and took 25 minutes to reach the top. Only to be told he couldn't check in the bag he has booked in his name without me being present too with my passport. So I had to park up, pay parking charges and both if us rejoined even longer queue. We tried to go directly to the desk he'd been at earlier and we're very rudely shouted at by the agent thetr. So we queued for 30 minutes. The agent insisted in asking me all the "have you packed this bag yourself" questions, all of which I answered no, as I hadn't. Despite this, they took the bag, didn't ask my husband any of these questions and we're unbelievably unhelpful in explaining why on earth they needed this farce for a bag that was his and in his name. Cost us a while lot I'd time and e5 in parking. I emailed to ask for refund if bag charge due to this and was told they couldn't discuss it with me as it wasn't my bag! Then my husband emailed the same complaint and eight months hasn't gotten any response, despite multiple follow ups in our part. So, all in all, what was supposed to be a convenience ended up a bloody nuisance costing us time and money.

This could apply to me. Our flights were booked by a travel agent and there's four of us, it's more or less a package holiday and we're on a scheduled flight.

The person whom I believe is named as the 'lead traveller' (i.e. the first name on the booking) is travelling up from the country on the morning of the flight so I'm not sure if the other three (including me) can show up the previous evening with our bags if we don't have the lead traveller with us.

I have had the experience with SAS that all of us on a group booking had to step forward and check in our bags as a single exercise, I wasn't sure if Aer Lingus required you to do the same

Has anyone else had the experience of dropping off a bag the previous evening if there was multiple people on the booking and you weren't all there at the same time?
