Excellent MPG in New Diesel Corsa

I was on holidays in France recently and drove 2300 KM with 185 euro of Diesel in a brand new rented Opel Corsa. Drove through mountains and on the motorway mostly. Was very impressed with this, as had budgeted to spend a lot more on Diesel. Am looking to get a new car in the next few months, and am considering getting a Corsa for this reason. Any other cars with similar MPG that I should consider?

The new Renault Clio, ~16.5k for a 1.5DCi with Cruise Control, Sat Nav, Aircon, DRLs, Alloys. Should do very similar consumption.

    Your 2300km for 185 euro calculates to consumption of 6.3 l/100km (45MPG).

To be honest with you, it doesn't sound too good for small diesel car.
I get better in 2.2 litre civic.

I get better with my 2 litre vRS.

    Is it not 5.5 L/100Km? 51MPG

At a price of 1.46 /Litre, 185 euro would get you 127 Litres.
    127 L/2300Km = 5.5 L/100Km

    127 L/2300Km = 5.5 L/100Km

The price is though €1.274 per litre.

I would get a little over 3000km for the €185 in my 1.6TDi Audi A3 with Auto/Tiptronic gearbox, i'm sure you would get even more with manual transmission.
If i only got 2300km for €185 in a newish diesel car i'd want to burn it.
