Laptop-less Transfer - SD to USB External Drive

    Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for a Laptop-less transfer option for SD cards to an external USB drive. I'm doing a decent road trip that requires me to travel light and a laptop is not really an option. I'm looking for a system that takes an SD card and dumps the contents to a USB hard drive. I'm aware of systems with photo preview but that functionality (And cost) would be overkill here.

The best solution so far is an Android tablet but if I could go smaller again, that would be ideal. iPad is not an option as we would be talking 64GB worth of HD video potentially and it doesn't have the ability (To my knowledge) to take an SD card and hard drive at the same time.

    Thoughts or tips?

    Many thanks!

Android phone with a micro USB adapter to regular USB. Then jus use a card reader and USB stick.

Thanks Sugarman. Probably looking like the best solution but I'll be powering a drive, so I presume a tablet will be needed given the current the drive will pull compared to a USB stick?

There are 2.5 in hard drives with SD card slots. Sorry no links to hand, on phone.

Else a 9inch netbook with 500GB internal drive. They weight about a kilo and you get the benefit of having a working pc.

Thanks for all the info folks. I think a Netbook or Tablet is the only viable option, as cost wise, they give the best bang for buck. I was hoping to avoid as I already have enough tech with the MacBook etc, and was hoping for a cheap standalone solution.
