Damp footwell

The driver's side footwell in my Passat B6 is constantly wet. At first i thought I was bringing it in with my shoes, but even if the car isn't used all week, it's still soaking. Any ideas? Could it be a blocked AC drain?

Open the bonnet. Under the windscreen is an opening, which takes fresh air and feeds the heater. There is a drain or 2 at the bottom of this for rainwater. Make sure there isn't a pool of water in there. If there is, the drains are easily unblocked.

I'll have a look at that in the morning. Is there a drain under the driver's side though? I've noticed some runoff from under there in the past.

There's more than likely one drain on either side alright. They can easily get blocked with leaves and other crap. Now it might be something else entirely, but from what you describe, with the runoff too, my educated guess would be a blocked drain(s).

when we see that on regular passat audi a long screwdriver removes the drain altogether from below wheel arch,if not there it cant get blocked.

My car (different make and model) had the same problem. Checked drains for blockage, AC etc. but it turned out it was the windscreen seal had gone. Water was finding its way down the pillar and pooling in the footwell. Might be worth ruling it out anyway.

Most likely. Happened in my car recently; the seal (gasket?) at the back of the taillight unit perished and was letting water in. Very common in Integras apparently. My mechanic was able to dry off the unit and seal it to stop it happening; not sure how much of a long term solution it is though.

Other thing that might be causing a leaky boot is if the rubber seal that runs along the outer edge of the boot that makes contact with the lid when closed perishes. Rubbing some Vasaline around the rubber seal might help soften it up if this is the case.
