Tyre Problem.

I'm still on the stock tyres that came with the bike.

I got a puncture a few weeks ago and deemed it necessary at the time to patch the inner side of the tyre.

See the attachment for a visual.

I have a spare pair of Michelin Pro 4 tyres that I was hoping to keep until I got more kms out of the stock tyres.

Should I change now or wait? Now is my thinking.

What tyres are they? It looks very flat and worn but that may be just because it's not on the rim.

The Pro4 SC's are fantastic tyres. I fitted then to my bike about 6 weeks ago and loving them, for a slick tyre they have phenomenal grip in wet and dry conditions and they have a good level of puncture resistance.

They are Giant S-R4 that came with the bike and there's just over 1,000km on them.

The tyre in the photo is on the rim and inflated to over 100 psi.

I think I'll change them tonight.

I definitely would. It looks completely flat/worn.

I would have thought that I'd have gotten more than 1,000km out of a tyre despite the fact that it's a stock tyre. Am I expecting too much?

I got home from work tonight and discovered that the tyre in question was flat so may not have been 100psi as I stated earlier. I removed the tube and found a slow puncture which might describe the 'flat' look in the photo that I took last night although the tyre felt fine on my short spin yesterday.

Anyway, I've ditched both Giant tyres and have fitted the Michelins. I'm looking forward to trying them out tomorrow evening.

Cycling them while softer than recommended may have added to their shortened life as I would have thought tyres like that would last considerably longer (3k+) but maybe not.

I'd Giant S-R4 something tyres they were like paper. I had them on for about 100km. Binned them in the end. Replaced them with Gator skins.

From the photo it seems there is a slight bulge in the tyre and personally I wouldn't take the chance of a blowout.

That picture shows a bulge and looks like something in the tyre. You're better off changing that
