    Hi,
Just wondering, what difference does wheel size make? for example the hyundai i30 has three variants 15 inch, 16 inch and 17 inch. What difference does this make?

    thanks

The 17s will look less like a Garda car. :P

(really though, I've no idea, but assume it's an aesthetics thing - bigger wheels look nicer?).

Assuming total wheel diameter (rim + tyre) should stay the same (or very similer) then there will be difference in tyre height.

The smaller the rim, the higher the tyre.

On higher tyres, ride will be softer (could say more comfortable) but road holding on fast cornering will be worse.

Opposite on lower tyres - ride will be more firm with more vibrations and better feeling every bump on the road, but driving through corners fast will be much easier, safer and more pleasurable.

15" tyres are the cheapest and have the widest range, tyres get more expensive the bigger the diameter in my experience.

On the (old model) i30, 17 inch wheels get lower suspension which really sharpens up the drive. They are expensive tyres though.
You'd imagine the ride would be rubbish, but its actually grand.
