I have a problem with an new saorview box i set up for my grandfather this weekend, its channels are not in the right place and every second channel is a testcard that none of my saorview boxes at home ever pick up. I have tried first time installation a few times and its still the same.

Just delete the test card channels and re-order them.

What is the make and model of Saorview box?

Non-Saorview approved receivers or receivers setup with UK as the country will store the channels in random order like you describe above.

As The Cush says, see in installation menu if you can set country to Ireland.
