Mice in suspended ceiling under hollowcore

in the house 3 yrs now,

heard the usual feet at 3am on the ceiling above me, now its a suspended ceiling from the hollowcore flooring.

no sign of mice in house, be it downstairs or up stairs.

no sign of how they could get in from upstairs and down in to it, or from down stairs up to it.. .

I have though came to a theory though.
where the water outlet pipes from the bathroom sinks etc. come out of the wall, there is a nice size gap around it, basically holes to big. and yes a mouse would easily get in. . . then i thought, but thats just in to the concrete, no way could a mouse get to the upper suspended ceiling from here.

then remembered, this plumping is on the raft, not in it. (pipes lad on the raft+insulaiton) meaning. .the hole is drilled through the cavity.. . .

so mice are getting in, in to the cavity, up the wall in side. . . obviously finding a gap where the hollowcore is sitting on the block, and getting in. . .

    solutions. .

as there is no means of putting poision or setting a trap in the ceiling,

can i block this up straight away ?. . . getting still wool. . and concrete, or ill just concrete it up i reckon.

I was going to get some traps and poision and leave them in the eves upstairs. . . . basically . . would love to get them out first before sealing up. .

whats your thoughts?. . .. any good recomendations on poision? (the type that makes them leave for water)

i dont know how true a smelling mouse is, .. but just what other thougts on it. . . .

i dont think i have any choice, seal it up i reckon and chance it.

    Cheers.

Mice are good climbers and can get in the smallest of gaps. If you use poison be prepared for them to die in the house the warmer the weather the worse the smell. Could you set traps by any entrance, peanut butter is good. Wire wool and expanding foam is what i used to fil up any gaps..

ya, what i might do is set traps at the entrances, . . . and traps in the eves up stairs, just in case. . . .. . . put poision down upstairs. . .

    and basically wait until 1, i hear nothing. .. or 2. . catch 7 mice. .

    then seal it up. .

    lol

Set traps and try and get rid of them first before sealing entrance holes. If you lay poison be sure to cover your water tank as they will head for water once poisoned. They will then drown in the tank and contaminate all your water. Better off setting traps as you can then get rid of bodies. Smell off decomposing rodents is disgusting.

2 pre-baited traps set, 2 timber baited traps set, poison down outside at entrance hole (i mixed in a small bit of peanut butter for flavour. . just a tad. .. put it on a tray, coverd that with a biscuit tin with small hole, and put a block on that. . .

those black pre-baited traps are a fine job, my mother buys them for the garage, its handy for her, no messing etc. .

    but all it is peanut butter. . . . . . i think i might rebait them myself. .

4.99 for pack of 2 in supervalu.

Invest in a plug in mouse frequency emitter. I had the same problem and after cutting holes in the ceiling and wall to place traps still had the problem. Since plugging in I ve haven't heard anything at all

and will that work even if i plug it in the house, . . . they will stay out of the ceiling.?

Don't know how to share a link P Cash but Google homebase rat & mice electronic repeller, that's the one I got. They are indoor devices that have a 6 to 10 metre radius. It has mixed reviews but I suspect those it hasn't worked for may have larger mice or rat infestations. I placed it where I believed mice were entering into house and I haven't heard a thing since 3 nights after installing. One per floor level is required.
