I am hearing noise nearly ever night in the gutter and today I seen a magpie perched on it and I think its building a nest in there  Is there anything I can do to stop it ?

Magpies nest in trees and hedges. You probably have starlings nesting in the eaves

Agreed. Either starling in facia or sparrows under the tiles but not magpies.

You get used to it! :)

The lads are right; magpies don't nest in gutters; we do get them poking around in our gutters and they make a load of noise; they are just looking for stuff to eat (e.g. insects among the debris); they also poke in around patches of moss on the tiles.

Could also be looking to break an egg or two in another bird nest

Might be a solution to the noise from the magpie picking in your gutters at dawn (I've had this problem too) or starlings nesting in them. There are gutter systems on the market that mean..... No leaves or twigs can get, its closed in so birds can't get in either.

Mod edit: Brand name removed - OP can shop around to find a product that suits them if they wish

There are several products on the market that can be placed in gutters for that purpose. But House Sparrows and Starlings nest under roof tiles and in facia , not in the gutters themselves. The attraction to the magpies in not in the gutter either.

Hi Srameen, thanks for info, but the birds are perching on the gutter and picking in the gutter. My bedroom window faces west and on a sunny morning, I could see the shadow of the birds when I look out the window. It looked quite big but when I went out to see what it was, (they must hear the door open) they'd be gone. All I could see was small birds around like tits. In going to get one of the products that ensures... nowhere for them to perch on it. It is completely different to any other gutter.

Mod edit: product name removed - anyone interested can shop around.
