    Hi

In regard to a 2006 523i. One of the things on the door is loose, it is not fitting properly. I am thinking about replacing it but for the life of me, I don't know what it's called.

I have attached a pic, the thing I am talking about is on the top right of the picture at about 1 o clock, it is the long silver thing to the right of the handle for opening the door.

On my car it's just a piece of plastic but it's a bit loose so I want to replace it but can't price one as I don't know what it's called.

    Any ideas ?

It's probably one or more of the interior trim clips that's holding it that's broken. If you take yours off and check, you may just be able to replace the clips. The part itself is quite expensive.

This shows how everything fits together. It seems its part 5 you're looking for.

Not a clip, this is an actual screw built-in into the part 7
Part 5 is glued to part 7.
What happens very often, especially when people try to remove the door card, they pull that part thinking it is clipped in, but it is not, and it snaps.
There is a bolt behind the door card holding this handle. 3-4 actually on the top of my mind.

Thanks very much. Part 5 is the thing that's loose alright. Feckin expensive is right, 90 sterling for the part alone.

Part 5 Is not actually broken or snapped or cracked or anything. Just at the north end, it's not fixed in correctly and kinda rattles in and out cause its loose.

I think it's the clips I need maybe, not feckin sure. Now to try and get the clip names.......

Thanks, so here is the actual offending article - attached.

"Photo" is just the thing that loose.

"Photo_1" is the thing that's loose when its pulled back ( I don't want to pull it back any further in case I snap it )

on Photo_1, if I put a bit of glue on the 2 circled things, should that do it.

Check the back of the trim, plastic supports are broken. Pil them off in order to have a flat surface then put glue on 2 parallel lines.

Thanks, when you say "the back of the trim" do you mean the underside of the trim. i.e opposite the circles in photo_1 ?
