Medical Card:Change of Doctor

I need to leave the Doctors Surgery that I am registered with. Things have happened and I no longer want anything to do with the place.
I'm not finding it easy to find a new practice easily willing to take me as many of them say they have reached their quota of patients. Is there any circumstances where a doctor will can accept you despite being at their quota? The place I am interested in is one where I was a patient in the past and other family members still, attend there, mostly as private patients. Also given the situation I'm in and that my card is discretionary due to me having a medical condition would that give rise to some discretion on their part or is it the HSE who have the final say?

No. A doctor does not have to take anyone else on, even in special circumstances.

Could there be a situation where a Doctor agrees to take you but the HSE refuses to add you to their list?

I don't think the HSE have any say in this type of situation ,

My brother is in the same situation he's been living in one area but his doctors is in a different area 40 mins away ,none of his 3 local surgery's can /or will take him on due to number of patients on there books,

Some surgery's can be weary taking new patients for various reasons

Given that I was a patient there before and my parents still are, I would be hoping they might consider me.
Its fairly common knowledge whats going on at my current practice so I imagine these doctors will know too.

If they already turned you away you wont have a lot of options except another surgery that might have space
