Hi All, I have purchase Digital Satellite System with receiver SL 65. I am able to pick up Astra 19.2E with all German channels. I am not able to pick up the English channels on Astra 28.2E.

    Any advise would be appreciated

welcome to boards. Your dish needs to be nudged very slightly to the east. we are talking very slightly not a huge swing. think of the hands of a clock, say from 6.30 to about 6.26.

Also it needs to be pointed down a very small fraction, again very small amount.

Once you have found 28.2 east the lnb will have to be also turned in the holder "Skewed" slightly clockwise (I think) if the cable coming out of the lnb is at the bottom of the lnb then it needs to be at the 6.35 position if it were a clock again or where an imaginary 7 would be.

Hi Snaps, thank you for the welcome and advise. Can you clarify what you mean by 'the 'Inb' will have to be also turned in the holder'

Now that you have BBC, press whichever button brings up the signal strength and quality and move the dish again ever so slightly to increase those strengths/get optimum signal.

The lnb is at the end of the arm, where cable goes in. You will see it will twist or rotate to adjust the skew.

I'm also having this problem,I have the LNB in position '2' (sky dish) as advised by a friend, does it have to be left in this position and should I adjust the dish or should I rotate the LNB also?

If you are getting the German stations then the whole dish needs to be moved slightly. Once you get the Uk stations its a matter of fine adjustments of both the dish and LNB for best results.

Standing behind the dish, move it to the left.

    No

Explain exactly what you want to do?

And posting pics always helps too.

Are you still using the UPC service through the cabling?

It depends on what type of cabling is installed? I'd doubt it's satellite grade cabling, I installed a Freesat/Saorview setup for my sister in Dublin a while back and decided to install new cable instead of reusing the existing low quality UPC cable.

No, I'm not using the cable for UPC. Cancelled UPC last year. The apartment is new build and UPC wired all the apartments originally and had an exclusive contract with the builder so that no other tv service provider could be used. It meant that I couldn't get an alternative service when I cancelled UPC. I decided to buy the satellite to see if I could get basic services. I've succeeded in using the cable installed by UPC... it avoided re cabling from the satellite dish to the tv set which would have been messy. All UK channels are working now and I can use RTE player to watch RTE. Success.
    Thanks everyone!

That is impossible. These legacy agreements were ruled on 5 years ago. They hold no water. If you want satellite you can have satellite. UPC OWN nothing.

How have you managed to take the UPC cable and connect it to a dish/LNB?

    Was wondering that myself!

Have done the same. I assume upc outsourced some installs and those lads used Sat cable. I'm combining boosted saorview and fta on upc's cable and decombining at combo box. Works a treat. I was NOT going to try running new cable!

Sorry, are you saying that you have a UPC cable going into an aerial and a dish?

How can you even get one end of the cable to go to a dish, is it not buried in walls/concrete?

    It was a retro fit.
