    Hi all,

Just looking for some recommendations from some people.

Myself and my girlfriend have a wedding in Valladolid in July, and plan our summer holiday around it this year.

Hoping to fly in to Madrid, spend two nights there before getting the train to Valladolid, then we are free to do whatever we want. Looking to fly out from Portugal maybe two weeks later.

We're both in out late 20s, and certainly wouldn't be looking for any of the package holidays type resorts - just some really cool places where we can relax and maybe get a beach in on a day or two.

    Thanks all.

Salamanca is worth a visit; if you want more city experience

More rural: Gredos mountains, Caceres, Plasencia, Merida, Trujillo. These are on the the old Ruta de Plata (Silver Route). There's some nature reserve famous for it's vultures whose name I can't recall.
July is likely to be very hot in Extremadura.

Maybe follow the River Douro to Porto. (Not something I've done.)
Porto was an interesting place back in my inter-railing days.
There are lots of empty beaches on the Atlantic coast. Take care with currents - and dangerous drivers on the main coastal route.
