So I had an idea my DD wasn't been taken out of my account but I wasn't sure so I asked eircom who said yes the payments have been taken and told me the dates so I presumed all was good and didn't worry about it, then I hear this storey of eircom screwing up thousands of people DD's and demanding the failed payments to be repaid, my first taught was that having sent me written confirmation of my payments what right have they to go back on this? Surely if its in writing it should be a proof of payment as the company told me it was paid, secondly I heard they plan on taking the full back payment automatically next month, what madness is that.... I am in a training course and get a low allowance each week, I can't afford to pay for eircoms mistake in one month without being penny less for the whole month

I also am still not even a 100% sure I have been affected as I haven't gotten a word from eircom about it yet only what I've read, to me this is a disgrace and I'm starting to question whether I should even pay a penny for this nonsense

You're questioning if you should pay for a service you got?

If they previously confirmed payment and are now attempting to take payment subsequent to this then this could be construed as attempted theft. You need to consider about talking to the Gardai

Has the money left your account or not? Presumably you can check this.

I suppose I'll have to go to the bank Monday and and find out exactly what happened and wait to see if I get a letter from Eircom, just hope a huge bill doesn't arrive with no notice

Hi Conor98, thanks for posting. If affected by this issue you should already have received a letter from us advising of this. If you do go to bank and find any anomaly, just let us know here and we can sort this out for you.
