Starting from not being able to drive a car,.... in how many lessons time do you think I should buy a car and use it for practice (driving to the shop and back)

I'd say after lesson 4ish you'd be fine to drive down to the local shop. It really depends on you though, you could be fine after one lesson or you could still be panicking and stalling it after the 20th lesson.

I'd definitely recommend getting in loads of practice in between lessons once you feel comfortable to drive without the instructor. Will you be able to get someone to go out in the car with youas you need a full licensed driver?

I think this is like asking how long is a piece of string. Start by getting yourself some lessons with a qualified instructor and see how you are getting on. Ask them for their opinion on your progression.

One you decide to buy a car; please consider initial cost to buy; tax; insurance; nct and of course wear and tear. Don't put yourself in that expense if you're not going to use said car and are able to drive said car with a fully-licensed driver with you while you continue to build your experience and confidence safely.

    Hope that helps,
