I've just sent off my PhD to the external and there won't be anything done with it now until July. I'm applying for jobs, have no classes/course to do, or any reason to be in college at all so can I apply for job seekers?

    Thanks

You will need a letter from the college stating that you are finished your course.Other than that go for it.

    Thanks,

I assumed I need a college letter so I went to get one today and they wrote down that I'm a full-time student until October when I graduate. I can't believe it. I stopped teaching for them in January and I'm eligible to do or attend courses. Teaching jobs don't start until Sept so if I can't get welfare I don't see what I could do unless I find a full time job immediately (I've been looking)

What you need is a letter stating you have submitted your "thesis" for your phd and are awaiting your viva voce and that you do not have to attend college etc. Do you have a mentor/supervisor who could write up this letter.
