Thinking of buying an Ipad mini. Looking on the apple website, the refurbed ones are a bit cheaper.

Is it better to buy a new for the sake of a few quid?

Not really, the refurbs are just as good. Save the few quid and get the refurb.

Refurb definitely a good option but wait for the 2nd Generation Mini to show up on the refurb store ;-)

There is a very big different in performance. It will be worth the extra €100 as it will be more future proof. You will get more versions of iOS on it.

The iPad mini was already outdated when it was released in 2012. It used the same chip (A5) as the iPad 2 from 2011.
