Looks like it's a UK import so they probably bought it cheap to begin with.

    Here's a cheaper one,

Would the 5 year warranty still apply in Ireland if it was a UK import? or would Hyundai Ireland wash their hands of it

The fact they don't show a reg and they are a dealer screams dodgy to be. Also called 'Trade Price Cars'. I'd be wary myself but thats just my own opinion.

I doubt the warranty would apply to an exported car. Generally warranties are valid in the country of sale. The only people who can answer that is Hyundai.

The UK warranty is valid here as long as it has been serviced to the manufacturers requirements.

And that price is average enough for the year, there are a few cheaper ones out there.

They don't show a reg because it's probably on UK plates at the moment. Nothing dodgy about that at all. It would be easy for the OP to ring the dealer and ask for the reg no. to do a history check.

The Hyundai warranty is fully transferable around the world. Ring Hyundai and they'll confirm this.

They are a reputable garage, have bought from them in the past. I doubt there's anything wrong with it, just dont want to put the locals off with a UK reg!

That's a UK import as well though.

Just saying, at this point I wouldn't bother buying a UK reg'd car in Ireland.
I'd go there and save myself even more.

Neither would I. Judging by my above post the dealers are making a tidy profit on the UK cars they're importing.

Some people don't want the hassle of going to the UK, driving back over, getting the car inspected for VRT etc..

I'd rather go through all that and keep the extra few grand in my pocket!

Agree, my sister in law bought a 131 import recently, 1.6 diesel mid-spec and paid €17k plus an 02 Golf 1.4. Nice car but not a great price.

I bought a car from randles , there ok , no worries there

I will be aiming to trade in an 06 1.4 Polo so importing from UK is not ideal as I don't want to be stuck with the Polo in the driveway while trying to sell it.

Generally dealers advertise their straight deal price which becomes less relevant when you have a trade in.

Hyundais have poor residuals so that figure is about right to me.

    Poor compared to what?

Didn't your grandparents diesel Polo lose half its value in 3 years trading for another VW?

Youd be better with a brand new base golf for 20k, It will be 2.5 years newer and a far better and probably safer car than something like that. Being petrol will be probably more reliable as no dpfs either and definitely quieter .

Boggo spec Golf 5 door 1.2 TSI in non metallic is €21650 plus delivery to be fair - and add €4000 on to that to go diesel (ie €11000 more than the original used car)

    Guys
Cars not displaying Registration numbers on adverts are so for a reason .

A wee story of why .

Last week I was buying a car in the UK for one of my clients ( I am an ex Motor Dealer and source cars as a business now )

Car was priced fairly and when I received pictures all looked beautiful . But when I asked certain questions I was not happy with some of the answers so I requested to see certain paperwork and within 3 minutes of getting this I could tell that the car had been clocked .
12 months ago the same car had 107971 Miles
Now the same car is showing ..... 65319 Miles

Do the maths guys and the car could have 77000 miles more on it !!!!
Is it still a cheap car ????

You never told us how cheap it was so ???

Its quite normal for UK imports on sale in Ireland to not have the UK plates on.

Any half decent seller would give you the reg number so you can do checks before you arrive.

Everything is arguably "for a reason"

I am making a general remark that is all , I do not know the dealer so cannot comment and will not comment here even if I knew him.

All I am saying is be careful and check the paperwork on all UK Cars , I gave an example of something I came across that is true fact , there are various reasons as to why a car can be cheap !!!

Some genuine and others otherwise !!!!

30 + Years experience in the industry is all I have. Please don't mistake experience with being cocky.

You need to be just as careful buying an Irish car tbh.
