Just wondering father was saying he will be losing some S.F.P as he hasn't enough land for the value of entitlements i think. Renting more land isn't an option as there is nothing going so any other option?

Shame fathers pretty pissed as if there was land within a few miles would do perfect for silage but demand is something else this year there isnt a sniff only a bit for sale.

There was a pull out in the week before lasts FJ try to get a copy and read. It is printed by the department so you may be able to get a copy from a local office

From reading the pull out I think he will not lose the entitlements as long as he fills out a SFP application this year. What will happens si in 2014 he will be paid only on land he has in 2014. That is if he has 30 entitlements but only 20 HA in 2014 he will be paid on the 20. In 2015 he will again fill out SFP form however his total payment for 30 units less the reductions will be divide by 20. So in the new scheme he will have 20 entitlements.

The advantages are he has a high/HA payment.

The disadvantages are if they exceed 700/acre by a large factor by 2019 700/Ha is the max he will get. If His rate is above the national average thew will begin to reduce post 2015.

As far as I know this is the senario however check with tegasc/agri consultant/department

We'd a BTAP meetings & the facilitator was saying there's an option to stack entitlements this year.
Could be worth your while to visit your local advisor

Pure and utter speculation and I assume he'll try and flip them or perhaps he'll buy land.

    Is it speculation?

*I thought* it was agreed that you could have entitlements without land?

So its down to a matter of the multiple of the entitlement value they paid - if they got low value entitlements at say 1.5 - 2 times their value...
Make their money back in 2 years, and they will be paid for 6 years?

Sorry to drag up an old thread,
but with Entitlement trading open again this year are people going to try and buy/lease more?

I rang HMG and she said that there are none for sale due to the 50% claw back rule and people are only leasing them on a yearly basis
paying 50% of value for ones valued around 100 euro
up to 65% of value for ones around 350 euro

seems a better option than buying stock, at least its some form of a return

Sorry if this is a bit off topic but does anyone know if last year was a reference year for bps.
