    Hi,
My parents have a Cello saorview ready tv and cannot rescan RTE1.
I have done a manual rescan a few times but it's saying we have 5 channels but it's showing blank for RTE1.
Rang help number on website but was told to try rescan again in an hour.
Been trying a few days now so don't know what change an hour will bring !!
Have tried plugging in an Ariel but still no joy !

    Any advice please :)

    Try a 'First Time Installation'

The hour will probably mean the lad in support has gone home and when you ring back tomorrow someone else can deal with the problem :D

You require an aerial for Saorview reception. The type of aerial you use will depend on how good the signal is where the aerial is located.

What type of aerial are you using, indoor/outdoor or attic?

Posting this same response to two different threads with similar sounding issues, so please take no notice if you also see this in the other thread.

It sounds like your tv is fine for the job. I am thinking aerial is the problem.

If you know which transmitter covers your area, this pdf document may clue you in as to which UHF channel you should expect to find the second mux on, Perhaps try scanning just that particular UHF channel to see if it yields anything.

If you have a "rabbit's ears" or similar indoor type aerial then that could very well be the cause of your problem.

Good luck with it and I hope you get it working.
