Hey I was just wondering if anyone could help swap my clocks over.

    01 TDi bora 1.9

I'm in the Galway area and I am not able myself as I don't have the software and have nct booked in for a fortnight and it's a steep price to get them done by 'specialists' :/

If anyone's able plenty of beer money for you and you'll really be helping me out

    Cheers

No. This is a cluster swap which means the contents of the original cluster's ECU need to be copied over to the new one to preserve operation of the immobiliser and to keep the odometer correct.

    VAG-Tacho is good for this.

@OP: If you knew someone who was handy with electronics and soldering, you could possibly pop the ROM chip off the circuit board and swap it to your new cluster that way.

No, VAG-Tacho will clone all that directly to the new cluster, even if it's a used one. Everything that identifies it as that vehicle's cluster is stored in the EEPROM. Copy the contents of that and you're good. This thread goes into it in some detail for an older generation of clusters than this one but the concept is the same: http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=327737
