RTÉ1 Television HD

I have an older type of Philips TV set with HD Ready marked on it. I have Saorview and only have the terrestrial channels. I do not have a Saorview box, only the sensor type one to receive Saorview. I have scanned it on several occasions after being prompted on screen to do so. After rescanning it still prompts for a rescan. From today I cannot receive RTÉ1. RTÉ2 is working fine on HD. Any suggestions please.

Maybe Delete all the channels and rescan again?
Sounds like it's not overwriting the old versions.

I think the non HD RTE1 was to go off air this week. The problem may be that your aerial might not support RTE1HD if it is on a different frequency to the rest as is the case with Maghera anyway. Had to purchase and install a new wideband UHF aerial at my parents house last weekend for this same reason. They couldn't get RTE1HD with the uhf aerial they had for the past 10+ years.

Some of the philips tvs are a nitemare when tuning in for Saorview, its highly possible you have indeed tuned in the RTE1 Hd channel but it is probably stored high up on the tv over 120.

If Im rite you will need some patience simply goto about 115 and if u hear the saorview radio channels then slowly go up through the channels until u find the rte channels. There is a way of moving them down but again its a nitemare and unless Im in front of one its almost impossible to remember by memory how to do it.

If RTÉ1 isn't stored elsewhere on the TV it could be your aerial setup.

What aerial setup do you use now, outdoor/indoor or attic aerial?

Posting this same response to two different threads with similar sounding issues, so please take no notice if you also see this in the other thread.

It sounds like your tv is fine for the job. I am thinking aerial is the problem.

If you know which transmitter covers your area, this pdf document may clue you in as to which UHF channel you should expect to find the second mux on, Perhaps try scanning just that particular UHF channel to see if it yields anything.

If you have a "rabbit's ears" or similar indoor type aerial then that could very well be the cause of your problem.

Good luck with it and I hope you get it working.

    The aerial is outdoor.
