Have a ewe that has lost both her tags. This ewe was bought from another farm two years ago. Anyone know if its OK to just tag her with my tags and make a note in the flock register? I know her number as she's the only one of a group that has lost the tags.

Or do I need to buy the red replacement tags? The booklet says these are only for sheep where traceability cannot be established. Thanks.

Why not get two replacement tags if you know the number,
Any way they can't penalise you if you correlate the numbers if you put new tags in...the sheep are traced

Thanks rancher, will probably just do that. BTW, what antiseptic do you lads use when tagging?

Don't usually use any, if the hole are still there try the same holes and if they're ripped savlon iodine etc, do as soon as poss to avoid flies until it heals

More thinking about the 20 lambs I have to tag. You think a spray of the same iodine I use for the naval would be OK?
