Hi guys, any fabric experts on here?

I'm making a dog bed. Can someone recommend a good fabric, that's breathable, durable... doesn't need to be waterproof as it'll have a removable cover.

    Would denim do?

    Cheers

I'm thinking a canvas if you already have a removable cover, depends what you will fill it with, if its dense foam then canvas will hold, but if its wadding, you need a lighter weight fabric. Denim could be good but it would be hard to slide you cover over it.

Any sturdy 100% cotton fabric will do the job. Denim would be ok, but if you use blue denim the colour will come off onto the outer cover. Calico or canvas would be fine but I suggest you go to a charity shop and get some 100% cotton curtains, since it is going to have a cover on it. The fabric does not have to be as massively tough as you might think, provided the seams are well finished any decent fabric will do the job. I have used curtain lining fabric for that kind of job (preferably not the very cheap one) and it works fine.
