Any diabetic vapers out there?

As above. Any diabetic vapers out there? And if so how does it affect your blood sugar? Have been reading a bit on ECF and it seems for some that Vg becomes metabolised into a sugar through inhalation and that's before you take flavours into account.

The reason I'm asking is a genuine one and it is something I may or may not have to deal with after a doctors appointment tomorrow. A hoor for the sweet flavours i am. So if there are any diabetic vapers out there what do you use?

    Thanks for your time.

Not me sorry, but im very interested to hear what the doctor said? if it is metabolised into sugar does that mean it is also calorific i wonder ?

Diabetic here, T1 and just started the vape.

Not sure if it's having an effect and if it is or can I would imagine it to be marginal. There is a slight sweet caramel taste from the ecig I'm using, kinda nice actually.

Doctor didn't say much masonchat but time will tell. Basically i had a fasting blood sugar test last week but i was vaping away on sweet juices the night and the morning before and my levels were high. Did another fasting test this morning without vaping for over a day so i guess i will find out soon enough.

Thanks for the reply 8mm, i presume it is a cig-a-like you are using? I have been using clearomizers for the last few months and using lots of chocolate and caramel esque flavours, also i tend to chain vape when i am vaping. It would be interesting to see if you notice any spikes after vaping.

The two things may or may not be related, chances are they probably aren't and i may just have high blood sugar, but just opening the door to other people's experience as a form of enlightenment :)

    all the best, hup

    Quick update folks.

The good news is it looks like vaping was not affecting blood sugar levels in any way. Did a fasting test without vaping for over 24 hours and no difference.

Bad news - well I guess I am now a diabetic.

At least I can get back to vaping now :)

    ........ every cloud....... :)

Just to add my findings to the thread... I have to test my bloods four times a day, including blood sugar levels and INR. I have found absolutely no change in my readings since switching to vaping. However my blood pressure is slightly higher... which I put down to my actual nicotine intake going up since taking to vaping, for me it is a replacement for smoking and not an effort to get off of nicotine and so I am on 28mg juice and sucking away like a good 'un!!! This is more than offset by the massive improvement that I have noticed in my lung functionality.

No trees were harmed in the posting of this message, however a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.

Doubt it. Anyhoo. Nearly 2 years later still vaping (bar a breakout for a few months when first diagnosed). Hba1c has halved and is approaching normal levels. So FOR ME vaping doesn't appear to have any effect on MY blood glucose levels. Everyone is different though. Just my experience.

Absolutely you can but controlling the dose can be an issue. For some injecting is such an off-putting experience that patients will go without insulin and live with raised blood sugar doing untold damage to their organs. Inhaled insulin is an option for these folk. Afrezza inhaled insulin has been on the market for the last year and will be life saver for some.

This can be an extremely stressful disease but when monitored and controlled correctly using all available tools life can be good.

There is potentially up to 8 calories per ml of vape juice but how much gets absorbed is up for debate.

PG and VG are both considered carbohydrates and a certain amount will get taken up by the body.

Also 1 ml will be around 1 g so if you vape 3 ml of juice you could be getting up to 3 gram of carb. Of course that's over a 24 hour period so the effect on the body will be unnoticeable.
