Skoda Octavia - engine going?

    I have a 02 1.6 red I petrol octavia.

    When starting it in the morning, there is a bit of white smoke from the exhaust. Car is very sluggish, loses power and hops on the road a bit.

    It cut out on me today, and as I was going over a cross road (in the country) it lost some power and crawled slowly until it picked up power again.

    Seems to be drinking a fair bit of oil too.

    Mileage?

    Any other history like overheating, etc?

    Milage is 130,000

    No history of over heating.

    Never had any major problems, few bushings done, brakes, the usual little jobs.

    The revs have been dropping recently too.

    How's the head gasket? Is the coolant clear? Any "mayonnaise" on the underside of the oil filler cap?

    Not sure on the head gasket (not an expert by any means)
    Coolant is clear, no signs of anything under oil cap.
