Reservations about going wireless with my keyboard and mouse

Okay I've always been somewhat against the idea of wireless, battery powered peripherals as I can see me running out of juice at exactly the wrong moment and not having replacement batteries to hand.

I'm also a bit worried about input latency between the devices and my computer(particularly for games).

There is a cat however who likes to eat my cables so I've been forced to make the jump and go wireless.

So recommendations for good wireless keyboards and mice are needed(or cat deterrents)

Are solar powered keyboards any use?

You know that stuff people have to spray on their fingers to stop them biting their nails.. Put some on your wires.

Personally had wireless and exactly the reasons you were hesitant is why I threw it out. Always when I was in the middle of a game. And the tv remote then had no batteries.
    So never went back.

I've been using a wireless mouse since day one, and I actually really like it. You'd be surprised how much difference not having a cable drag along with your mouse movements makes. I know you can get holders and things to stop that, but I find wireless to be more elegant.

Anyway, I'm using a Performance MX from Logitech. As for a keyboard, that's wired, but Archer's suggestion of nail biting spray is actually a really good one.

    Can definitely recommend this mouse.

I use it with the charging wire (just a micro usb cable) close, so if the battery does go, I can still use it normally.
(not sure if that is possible for you cat wise)

It also has a handy red light on it when it has low power.

If you get a unifying receiver you can sync all your Logitech stuff to one tiny usb dongle.

    Also, very good ergonomically speaking.

Opposite to Serephucus... I've always used a MX518 (wired) as a mouse, but my keyboard for the last... 8+ years now has been wireless. And to add onto that, it hasn't even been a leading brand name keyboard. It is this Medion keyboard that came with a PC bought in ~2005

As for latency with gaming, I've never had any issues. Ever. I've won multiple lan competitions and competed online in UT2k4 over the years using this keyboard. So either this keyboard is magic, or the latency argument is a load of shít.

As for batteries - Walk into your nearest Halfords, they sell packs of 30xAA batteries for €8, or a 24 of mixed AA and AAA for €6.

Cheers for this. I've currently got a Microsoft Wireless 1000 mouse and it is truly crap, so was looking for recommendations for a replacement. Love the mouse being wireless, just find the MS one is unreliable. Wired keyboard doesn't bother me as it doesn't move around as much.
