Forgot to ask, is there is a certain day a week when these are paid out?
I received the letter 2nd of april that my next cert is due on 25th and then every 4 weeks. Havent received anything this week from them.

Hi, Ive been away out of the country for more than 7 months and only just come back home. I've sustained an injury and will not be able to work (or look for work) for 4 to 6 weeks. Before I left I was un employed (reason I left). Am I entitled to go on the sick certs. I know I can't go on Job seekers because I'm unable to work.

all you can do is send in a cert and see.
    Heres the PRSI requiremnets:
To qualify for payment of Illness Benefit you must satisfy the followingtwo conditions:
    1. You must have at least 104 weeks PRSI contributions paid since you first started work and either 2(a) or 2(b)
    2. (a) 39 weeks of PRSI contributions paid or credited in the relevant tax year, of which 13 must be paid contributions. If you do not have 13 paid contributions in the relevant tax year, then 13 paid contributions in one of the following tax years can be used instead:
      • Either of the two tax years before the relevant tax year
      • The last complete tax year (before the year in which your claim for Illness Benefit begins)
      • The current tax year
      or
      (b) 26 weeks of PRSI contributions paid in the relevant tax year, and 26 weeks of PRSI contributions paid in the tax year immediately before the relevant tax year.
    Current tax year is 2012.

Send in the certs and if you receive a letter from illness benefit stating you do not qualify go to your cwo and apply for supplementary welfare allowance. You will still need to keep sending in the certs even if you get swa.

Yes, I guess I'll send a cert in and see what happens. So what's the procedure in doing so?

    Thanks

Your GP fills in his part of the cert and you complete the rest. Don't forget to put your spouse/partner and/or dependent kids details on there. Your GP has the certs at his/her office. When your done drop the cert into your local SW office.
