A New Heyman Guy! *Potential Spoilers*

So Heyman gave a good interview yesterday and said he has a new Heyman Guy signed. But won't name him yet...
Billy Donnelly – Are there other Paul Heyman guys that are still lurking that we need to be aware of or have on our radar that are ready to break out into the future?

Paul Heyman – Oh absolutely! I’ve already signed a new Paul Heyman guy!

    Interview

So who do we hope/want/think it will be? Or has everyone had enough of Heyman Guys now?

I'd love it to be Cesaro but I can't see that happening as he is doing well with Zeb, Unless it starts a feud between Heyman and Zeb for poaching Cesaro.

Good shout it would be a way to introduce him straight into the main roster without going through NXT.

I guess we will have a better idea Sunday morning depending on the outcome of his match at Invasion Attack.

Would be awesome but would fizzle out quickly, Heyman is a genius but the top brass just aren't set on Ryder. I hope it's Ziggler or The Miz myself.

Sting just popped into my head.

Heyman intro's him after Lesnar losses to The Undertaker. A year long build up to Wrestlemaina 31.

Paul hinted at this before and nothing came of it.

Tyson Kidd is apparently headed for a repackage post-Wrestlemania. So I will guess him. He definitely needs a mouth piece.

The image will always be Heyman writing cheques with his mouth that Tyson kid can't bank in the ring. I can't see that working. Unless they were thinking of a feud between Tyson and Bryan post Wrestlemania, which would be pretty spectacular in the the ring actually.

My money on the New Heyman Guy would be Fergal Devitt..... The perfect way to introduce him to the main roster without toiling in NXT for months.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,837 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

I'd say bringing Devitt in out of the blue wouldn't go down well with all the guys working in NXT.

Can't really think of anyone in NXT to bring up as a Heyman guy. Cory Graves maybe?

They've been recently told that call ups are few and fair between so I don't think it would to any appreciable degree to be honest. A lot of the talent have less than a years experience too.

Dean Ambrose with Heyman would be good

Ugh not him, as bland a personality as Axel. Makes me think of this clip when he`s on my TV

If spots are scarce, then that means they wouldn't be impressed with a guy with no previous affiliation coming in from outside and taking a spot that one of them could've taken.

I'd say if it was Kidd, Heyman should insist he doesn't appear on anymore Total Divas.
I just hope whoever it is that it works out better than Curtis Axel.

I think whoever it is needs to be able to use a mic in the long term. Its one thing getting the rub from Heyman but if you can't follow up with it when the split comes you turn into Curtis Axel Mark 2.

I do think Adrian Neville would defer to Prince Devitt as his superior rather genuinely. Neville is at least in the top 3 of male call ups based on worthyness.

He may believe so but at the same time, why should Devitt go straight into the main roster ahead of Neville and Sami Zayn?
I'm not exactly someone who follows Devitt so I'm not trying to start an argument or anything. Just from my point of view, the only way Devitt would be going stright to the main roster is if he was a well known star. And outside of the IWC, who would really know him that watches WWE? And not being a follower of the indies, I can say I've known El Generico longer than I've heard about Devitt, yet Generico's in NXT.
The idea is to get the guys trainedin the WWE style with WWE sized ring. Otherwise you get another Ultimo Dragon or Sin Cara.

I suppose the simplest way to put it is, When was the last time someone came straight into the main roster?

Sorry for the long ramble. I had a point somewhere in there. :)

Iirc Daniel Bryan was offered a spot in the main roster and chose to do the NXT/Nexus thing.

Would Heyman work well with a black guy, would it be a good mix say him with Kofi or R-Truth or even Mark Henry. Could be a major curve ball really.

This post hurts my brain trying to understand it tbh. Why would Heyman working with a 'black guy' be a curve ball, or am I missing something?

Nigel McGuinness and Daniel Bryan had the option to. Kaitlyn bypassed developmental as they needed a girl at short notice for an NXT season.

If Deviit was able to negotiate his way to instant main roster status, and WWE were happy enough to give him that status, then I don't think either will care if they perturbed some "lowly" NXT guys in their bid to bring a new "star" in.

Exactly. It would be a pretty stupid move if any NXT guy openly criticised a move made by HHH and Vince because A) why would the bosses care what some developmentals think, B) it would straight away risk going in the bad books of your boss and chances of a call up and push would diminish and C) they are not yet established with a sizable audience and would be replaceable.

You can't have everyone they sign going to NXT either, where's the surprise in that?

I don't believe it, there's a guy who's been on TV for the last year, and now he's on RAW? UN BEE LIEVABULL.

Knowing WWE, if they sign Deviit himself and Sheamus will pair up doing stupid ****.

Would love it to be Ziggler or Miz... or both.

Realistically its neither and someone not active at the moment.

So Cesaro is the New Heyman Guy - Can't think of anyone more deserving to be paired with Heyman

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,330 ✭✭✭✭RobbingBandit

Really hope I didn't cause any offence with my point on the potential new Paul Heyman Guy being black, just thinking in the veil of Harvey Wippleman with Giant Gonzalez, it would have been different.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,846 ✭✭✭Moneymaker

I've heard people say it didn't help Ryback or Henning.

Cesaro is ten times the talent of both of them put together and about 100 times more over.

Aligning with Heyman is a fast track to the top for him. Delighted.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,272 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Also compared to Ryback and Henning who just joined Heyman without real fueds set up! Cesaro goes straight into a fued against Zeb and Swagger so you have the two best talkers on the roster and two of the best workers, If the WWE blow this story wise they should be ashamed.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,913 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

Heyman vs Zeb sounds like gold to me.

The only thing I worry about a bit is what is Cesaro meant to be; he's a face in terms of going against Swagger (who attacked him from behind) and Zeb (who is pseudo-face half the time) and is alligned with the guy who manages possibly one of the biggest heels in WWE who just did something "disgustingly henious" on Sunday, yet the crowd obviously are treating him like a face :S

I dont think it matters to be honest.

What's important is elevating Cesaro. Aligning him with Heyman is one of the best ways to do that.

I can't wait to see Cesaro swing Lesnar

I'm hoping it leads to Brock v Cesaro. That would be some match.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,643 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

It's a weird dynamic Cesaro finds himself in. It seemed like a bizarre decision to put him with the Real Americans in the first place considering their schtick was that they hated immigrants whilst Cesaro was a Swiss guy who came out speaking a bunch of foreign languages and saying how he was better than US audiences.

Yet he got himself over as a huge star and to me it seemed like the gimmick helped in a big way. A lot of audiences have enjoyed the 'We the People' stuff and Cesaro seemed to gain more from this than Swagger.

This left WWE in a quandary. All signs seemed to point towards a babyface turn but the problem is the gimmick was never really Cesaro's. They therefore had a few options with the face turn:

    1) Turn him and let him keep the 'Real American' gimmick

Problem here is twofold: you deprive Swagger and Colter of their original gimmick and you risk leaving Cesaro ultimately in a situation Del Rio found himself in - bigging up America to an audience that finds it all wearisome and inauthentic. Danger would be the audience rejecting the concept.

    2) Turn him but without the 'Real American' gimmick

Problem here is that you now have to repackage Cesaro and as Ziggler discovered, having fan support only gets you so far without something substantial character-wise to fall back on.

    3) Turn him but also turn Colter and Swagger

Problem here is that while fans would be into Cesaro in the short-term, in the long run you would still have to find a way of giving him something unique and substantial for himself and you would be delaying the inevitable.

I therefore was struggling to think of what they could do with him. Pairing him up with Heyman seemed strange to me at first and I didn't get the logic but having thought about it more I think it's a great move.

He can establish himself character-wise now under Heyman, remaining as a heel in the short-term, but not quite going full-blown heel. Eventually when his character repackage gets momentum behind it then they will pull the trigger on the babyface turn. It will be his own gimmick and the wave of momentum from the fan support should sustain a healthy babyface run from him.

I think it's a brave move to stall the face turn but one that will be rewarded in the long run.

Heyman dismissing Zeb as granpa was simple but absolutely hilarious. A highlight of the night.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 838 ✭✭✭A Rogue Hobo

The thing about Heyman is he is so talented he really defines many shades of grey with his character. He can easily jump from heel to face as the situation suits. Especially these days where certain crowds will cheer Heyman/Cesaro regardless (London, Chicago, New York etc) and others will be mixed.
