Could someone clarify the situation from the below images.

I have Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and Windows 8.1 installed on two different partitions. I had Windows 7 before installing Windows 8.1. In the boot menu, both Windows 7 and Windows 8 options boot to Windows 8. Why is that?

Download Easybcd and run it and in the boot entry section delete windows 7. http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/easybcd.html

Done. Deleted Windows 7. Why doesn't EasyBCD recognise Windows 8 and Ubuntu? Now there no default OS in EasyBCD.

Sometimes you have to add them.

I did. But it didn't work. Added Windows 8 and Ubuntu. Windows 8 boots and Ubuntu doesn't after I fix the MBR. In easyBCD, under Advanced settings, Linux is given the drive letter E:, however, that's not where its installed. It doesnt give me the option for the correct drive letter, and in disk management there isn't one where linux is installed.

Strange one, if Easybcd said that Linux has the drive letter E, well that's the drive it is assigned to, it won't show up in disk management, try deleting the Linux boot and add it again, you could always try boot repair disc. http://sourceforge.net/projects/boot-repair-cd/

It's all good. Fixed it. Silly mistake on my part. Completely ignored a section in EasyBCD when adding Linux.

    Thanks anyway.
