Which Focus are you talking about because in 2011 there was a switch over to the new model?

From a reliabilty perspective the corolla has a much better engine. The 1.6 tdci is a PSA peugeot unit and is know for its turbo failure. They revised this engine in 2011 but its a bit early to tell if the newer unit is improved or not.

While the corolla has a very good diesel engine, the car itself is poor enough. The build quality is only average to cheap and its outclassed by most of its rivals in most departments.

Cars like the Hyundai i30 and KIA cee'd not only out do the corolla in the build quality department, but their very reliable 1.6 crdi diesel unit also matches the corolla's d4d in the reliability department whilst having more power and a much longer warranty.

Does anybody else have any other information on these.
I am thinking of buying one of these cars sometime next week?

how much would the turbo failure cost to repair in the tdci if it went? How would I know if the car I am buying has the revised turbo engine in it?

would the fuel economy in the focus be much better than the corolla?

The focus has a more comfortable seating position than the toyota corolla and it has a bigger spec but Im worried that the engine mightnt be as good. I hope to hold onto the car for about four to five years and will be putting up a lot of milage.
