Holding onto my landline number once I cancel my Eircom account?

    Hi All

I remember reading a while back, "not on boards" that its is possible to have a landline number, which you can use solely on your mobile i.e that all calls for that number divert directly to your mobile without incurring all the costs associated with a landline.

I am in the process of not renewing my landline contract with Eircom as I have gotten an all inclusive deal on my mobile that includes local, british and internet costs.

I was wondering if I can cancel my landline contract with Eircom, would it be possible to hold onto my landline number and use it to divert calls to my mobile.

    Thanks
    Onaragatip

Ask your question here, in the Talk To Eircom section. They might be able to answer your question more quickly.

An option is port your number over to a VoIP provider like Blueface.ie
Use it for internet calls, divert calls to your mobile etc

When someone calls that number, the call will need to be routed in the first instance (i.e. before any diverts) to a local landline supplier which could include people like UPC but not any of the mobile operators. The blueface.ie website talks a lot about 'business' and 'corporate' plans, looks very unfriendly to domestic subscribers. Skype would be an option for fixed to mobile divert but I'm not sure if you can port your landline number to them.

Basic blueface business plan for 10e a month would do exactly what the OP wants, if they are confused they could talk to Blueface about whats involved

@RosieJoe Please don't tell a poster to go post again in another forum. We end up with duplicate threads as a result. Instead, please use the Report Post function to alert a moderator that a thread should be moved.

    Hi Onaragtip

I have just looked at this. It is possible to set up what is called a virtual line. For more information on this please call 1901 (and then option 2 followed by Option 4) after first verifying your Phone number and Account details,

    thanks
