I work for an SME who employ aboutt 12-15 employees.
They have alot of historical debt but seem to be trading away at present. Recently the Revenue raided both the offices and the home of the director, up to about 13 officials in total with warrants and so on spending up to 4 hours going through their computers.

How serious does this sound and what does it suggest ?

It suggests they owe the revenue a few quid.

Yes but is this normal practice for revenue to carry out a ' raid ' such as this ?

A raid such as this would indicate that Revenue have some very serious concerns about the company and or the director. Scedualed interventions are the norm.
