Special locksmith for fixing multi-lock system?

Not sure if this is the right forum, but anyways, I have one of these composite doors with a multi-lock system. The way it works is that you have to pull up the doorhandle to engage the hooks and then you look the door. Similarly when unlocking, first you unlock ,then pull down the handle to disengage the hooks and then turn the key the last bit to open the door. And this is where my problem lies. Somehow something seems to get stuck in this last element and quite often I find myself really pushing the handle down numerous times as the key just won't turn the last bit and I can't open the door. It seems to be getting worse - and I don't think I just need to oil anything, the system seems smooth enough. Anyways, I thought one of these days I'm just not gonna be able to open the door, so before finding myself in that situation I thought I just get hte whole lot checked, but I was wondering would any old locksmith do or do I need some sort of specialist?

Many thanks for any suggestions. Based in Dublin 12

I would say its the door starting to sag and not lining up correctly causing the problem. Use to have the same problem with doors with glass installed. Use to have to toe and heal the glass to send the weight back to the hinge side to fix it. I would suggest getting an installer more so than a locksmith to look at it for you. May just need to adjust the hinges on the door to fix it for you.

Have you ever greased the handle hooks and locking mechanism?

If you have not then you need to. I had a similar situation and eventually the door handle disintegrated internally. Got Locksmith out and he replaced it and greased all components. He said that this will always happen if components are not greased.

Maybe someone will point you in the right direction as to the best type of grease to get for DIY job.

Thanks for your suggestions. I'll get the level out and check if the door hangs properly, I had that adjusted previously so I know how to do it. And I'll get some grease - all I know is that KW40 is not good to use!
