How long does it usually take for a logbook to arrive after buying a car privately?

I bought a car last Thursday week. I filled out my details there and then and I'm assuming the previous owner sent it off a day or two later. 7 working days later and still no sign of it. Don't have any tax on the car and can't do anything about it until I get the log book..

Any log book I was waiting for took about 10 days to 2 weeks to arrive.

You can check below if Shannon have received the change of ownership or if ownership has transferred:

But the best advice to do when buying the car privately is to bring an addressed envelope and stamp with you. Fill it out and you and the seller drop it into the nearest post box. That way you know it's sent as sellers tend to get lazy once they have the car sold and either don't bother posting it off or forget about it and through the envelop in a drawer.

Generally though it takes about 2 - 3 weeks depending on the time of year and how busy they are.

Thanks lads, looks like I'll be waiting another week or 2.
