    Hey all.

Recently acquired a PS3 Slim with CFW on it. Works 100 percent but it only has a 60gb HDD. Im thinking of getting a 500gb or 1tb drive for it. (Have heard the 1TB might make it run slower?) Just wondering is there a specific drive i need or will any sata laptop drive do? Also i understand the cfw is on the nand of the console so i should be able to just take the old one out and stick the new one in. if i backup the old drive can i just reinstall the backup and all apps, saves etc will magically reappear on the new hdd or is there more too it?

Ya any 2.5in hdd will do, there is no preference on size or speed (5400 or 7200) what ever fits your budget. They say 7200 gives off more heat..whatever !

Ive heard backup doesnt work too well on CFW, but Ive never tried.

What you can do if it doesn't work is flash official 3.55 via recovery, do the backup , upgrade the hdd, re-flash 3.55 kmeaw, then restore your backup

    (all off-line just in case)

    profit :)

If it doesn't work can I just bangback in the old drive n hey presto...... Back to normal? I can get a caddy for the laptop drive then?

    Sorry for the newbee questions.

Sorry meant to say, I've a case mod coming for the ps3 also that includes an extra fan to cool the system. Will this help against over heating or do you definitely think 500gb or so is the way to go (and external drive if extra space is needed) or would fan mod allow me to go bigger with native internal hdd?

PS3 Slim has NOR chip so system is stored in chip and PS3 HDD. PS3 will format your HDD every time you change it. 1TB for internal memory will be fine.
