How do i connect up led car lights?

    Hello

I got some white led lights for my car today but i have no idea how to hook them up now. They are day time running lights and i have checked to make sure they are working off the car battery alright.
I thought at first you simply power them off the car battery but soon realised that doing that was not going to work out because the wiring coming from the leds is far too short to allow me to mount them where i want on the car.
One wire attached to the leds is black/red in colour while the other is just red by itself.
How/What do i wire them up to now?

    Cheers for any help

The simplest thing to do here is take it to a mechanic to do as it doesn't seem like you are handy with electrics.

If your going to do it yourself make sure that it doesn't void any warranty. If it doesn't:

Buy some extra 12v cable, 2x blade fuse holders and fuses and a soldiering iron, soldier, electrical tape, and a lighter.

Ideally these should have their own circuit and relay.

Find the wire that powers the bulb and mark it for both lamps.

Pull the positive terminal off the battery.

With the lighter gently heat the insulation off a small section of the wire that goes into the dipped bulbs.

Splice the blade fuse holder in and solider on both sides and insulate with electrical tape or shrink wrap.

Then on the other end solder the wires from your LEDs to the fuse holder. Again insulate and shrink wrap.

Check to make sure they are working by reattaching the battery.

The red wire is the positive and should be the wire that attaches to the dipped bulb circuit and the black wire is the ground which should either go back to the negative on the battery or a local chassis point.

Personally I'd wire them on their own circuit powered by a relay rather than off the individual dip bulb circuit so that your not putting any extra strain on it. In that case the dipped bulb circuit only is a switching live than the actual live.
