    Hi,

has anyone successfully applied for a career break after the deadline? (Or does anyone know people who did?)

It can be done. Twice in my school. Both granted. Depends entirely on your Board of Management.

I did- around this time or late March 5 years ago. Just got the application in on the day of a BOM meeting so while it was late it was good timing. I got the career break granted while in the past people have been turned down even when they applied in good time.

I've heard of several schools who've refused both career break applicants and job sharing requests as they were over quota and Dept won't give cover for them so date of application might not be the deciding factor this year.Best of luck with it!

Key date is really 1st May. BOM must inform DES by that date.
